Guinea's footballers were the first to represent their country at an Olympic Games. They took part in the Mexico City 1968 finals tournament.
They beat Colombia 3-2 but lost to France and hosts Mexico and did not qualify for the knockout stages.
Since those Games, Guinea have also been represented in athletics, boxing, judo, swimming, taekwondo and wrestling. Judoka Abdoulaye DIALLO was the first from Guinea to take part in more than one Olympic Games.
He competed at Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984. Aminata KONATE became Guinea's first female Olympian when she raced in the 100m at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. At the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Guinea's team of five included Nabie Foday FOFANAh and his sister Fatmata.
Guinea have yet to win an Olympic medal.
