Kuwait were first represented by a two-man team at the Mexico City 1968 Olympic Games when Saoud OBAID DAIFALLAH and Mraljeb AYED MANSOOR competed in the men’s marathon.


 


In 1980 at the Moscow Olympic Games, Kuwait’s football team beat Nigeria and drew with Colombia and eventual champions Czechoslovakia. They were knocked out by the USSR in the quarterfinals. In 1992 and 2000 they again played in the final tournament but went no further than the group stages.


 


Fehaid AL DEEHANI claimed Kuwait’s first Olympic medal when he took bronze in the double trap at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. He carried his country’s flag at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, his fourth.


 


Danah AL NASRALLAH became the first Kuwaiti woman to take part in the Olympic Games when she ran the 100m in Athens in 2004.


 


In 2008, Kuwait sent a team of eight athletes competing in five sports.
